Exercise Western Cape

Post by Typeflyer »

Does anyone know any details of a mil exercise currently underway in the Cape Town area? Airspace is restricted on the eastern side of Table Mountain extending south to Simon’s Town and Cape Point. Flying assets include at least 2 Gripens plus a C-130 and what looked like a CN235 (all seen flying yesterday), and an Oryx (this morning).
Following seen during a distant look over the fence at Ysterplaat (unfortunately within optics), were C-130, several red/white PC.7, Oryx, Lynx and Rooivalk.

Call sign Scatman in use.

Noted on FR24 this morning:
FL-651 HEX 00CBAC King Air 350
Unidentified C-130B
HEX 00E081 no type

Adding to my previous post - have discovered that it is AFD 2019.
