Hi all!
Might have visited the best airport ever, for me at least. Spotting facatalities facilities are very good. There is no security at all (as I am sent away or had to identify myself at other UK airports)
Traffic is quite similar to Dusseldorf with lots of traffic and even rare airlines, the only difference is Manchester gets more heavy traffic like Qatar, PIA, Etihad, Emirates, American, Delta, US Airways and Continental. Also local airlines like Virgin, Thomas Cook and Monarch are operating wide-bodies in there.
You can get access to both runways, both very close. Runway 23L can only be reached by car, runway 23R can reached from the terminal. A short stroll shows you an official 'spottersplaats' as we know them in The Netherlands. You will be charged to get to that place but it is absolutely worth it.
We get loads of Onur Air, Pegasus, Sun Express, Sky Airlines and Corendon in Holland. But we don't get Saga, Turkuaz (no more) and KTHY. These three carriers are the only Turkish airlines, next to Turkish and a very frew Onur Air the only Turkish registred airlines in the UK:
Never heard from Viking before
Habitat for Humanity is often at Manchester, during my trip as well
Virgin operates one flight from Ringway
We were just talking about Iberia, normally not operating to Man. A few seconds later this CRJ arrived unscheduled as a ferryflight from Gatwick
Three flights from Pakistan on Tuesday, twice PIA and once Airblue
This one came in quite late unfortunately. For a little while the sun popped out
Etihaddd
The next day the sun was out for 30 minutes only, still great
My first easyJet A320
Unforgetable moment, when a T7 passes by so close (just 25mm!)
That's it
