Florida Road Trip Feb/March 2023 Civ\Mil

Post by VH3D »

Hi Guys,

I did road trip from JAX to MIA and on the way stayed at few places and visited total of 9 airports.
I'll start with day 1 at Jacksonville Intl Airport. Visiting 5 Alabama ANG F-16s (one went unread), 3 Army St. Pete HH-60s and 1 Navy TH-57.

Super, look forward to that.
They are UH-60Ls by the way, the Army withdrew their HH-60Ls a while back. Most operate with the DOS Air Wing these days.

The next stop was New Smyrna Beach Municipal Airport EVB. Not much going on in there.

The last airport for the day was Titusville Space Coast Regional Airport TIX. They have decent museum but I had no time to explore it. On the west side there are 7 Cessna 337 Super Skymasters which belong to Airscan. Most of them used for parts.
If anyone requires regs here they are:

Airscan Inc 337G Super Skymaster N743AS
Airscan Inc 337H Super Skymaster N746AS
Airscan Inc T337H Turbo Super Skymaster N921AS
Airscan Inc T337H Turbo Super Skymaster N924AS
Airscan Inc 337H Super Skymaster N930AS
Airscan Inc T337H Turbo Super Skymaster N945AS
Airscan Inc T337H Turbo Super Skymaster N946AS

The highlight of the place was Learjet 23 painted in NASA colors.

Next morning started the day at Melbourne Intl airport MLB. Several aircraft at the MRO and what looked like Allegiant's new special colors on A320. About 6 USAF T-6 were getting ready to leave but I didn't have time to stick around. Both B727s were unshootable. I've tried from 3 different sides.

Another new airport for me was Fort Pierce FPR - looks like boneyard for bizjets. My highlight was MD-83 which flies/used to fly for Congolese football team.

Last visited airport on the second day was Fort Lauderdale Executive FXE. It was my first visit at that field (I'm not big on bizjets), but I was impressed by the stuff I saw there. Lots of Britten Normans, Sabreliners and other aviation gems. Plus, they have really nice aircraft spotting area.
It would probably take around 3 hours to properly check all the driveways at the airport, but since I was only after particular planes it took me 2 hours and I stopped at the observation deck for about 30 minutes to shoot some approaches.
