Tucson Nov 2017

Post by EC »

This November I hitchhicked along on a plan(ning) devised by messrs de Wit and spend 10 days in Arizona.
One of the places we visited was Tucson. The international airport of Tucson has a mix of mostly regional airliners
of the big american airlines, bizz jets plus militairy trafic in the form of F16's from the Arizona ANG,Dutch and Iraqi training squadrons.

The main runway was shortend due to surfacing work and most starts and all landings were on the shorter cross runway in this period.
The runway restrictions also meant that the Arizona ANG and Iraqi's chose to move their operations to nearby Davis Monthan.

Here is an impression of what was seen under mostly blue skies and nicely warm temperatures.

Thanks Tigerspoon, yes you do need some small steps for these runway shots.
We did not have a problem with security or police but this is probably because we were chased of by the (civil) platform workers pretty soon.
So this is mostly hit and run work. No problem taking landing shots at this airport.
Also please note that because off the mentioned runway work this is not the "regular" runway,
they normally use the longer runway which is at a 90 degree angle and has different sun during the day.
