Meppen Range Exercise Embow 2 + 15 Aug (heavy post)

Post by AK01 »

Visited Meppen range just across the border near Emmen two times during august.
Exercise Embow XIV took place for three weeks, bringing some aircraft we do not often see in this area. (FAMET CH47D/ AS532, Turkish Navy Casa235 and Norwegian B412's for instance).
The weather forecast for both days was good, and turned our pretty bad, so don't expect the high quality Sunny shots. This report is only to give you an impression of w
hat's going on. All pictures are from the outside of the range.
On arrival on the 2nd only the Belgium NH90 RN06 was present.

This flew as Flicker01 in the rain.

Flicker02 was a Polish Casa operating form Nordholz.

Flicker03 was a Polish C130E also operating form Nordholz.

During lunchtime a Famet AS532 arrived, replacing the CH47D which had left the day before :(
Image
Flicker04 was the main reason for going to Meppen.

Followed by the two Turkish F16's /flicker 05 +06, these were to far away for flare shots, only one to prove they were there.

Thursday the 3rd saw the arrival of the Italian Navy MH90, so when i was in the area on Friday evening i made another short stop.
Image
2nd week was less interesting, so i decided to go again during the last week.
On arrival there were 2 Norwegian Bells and one Danish Merlin (arrived 07.00 this morning after the Danish MH60 left the previous evening :( ).

Flicker01 today was the Norwegian Bell 412 164.

Flicker02 was the Danish Merlin, flying twice today, and departing home again around 16.00 as DAF3177.
Image
Flicker03 was a Buchel Tornado 4610, all his run's were single flare, so not really interesting. Just one picture for the record.
Image
Flicker04 was the Swedish C130, flying twice today out of Nordholz.

Flicker05 was Dutch Apache Q14.
Image
Flicker06 was FAF A400 0031 F-RBAH.

Flicker07 was the Danish C130J.

A total of 14 countries participated in the exercise. During the 2nd week Finland (F18), Swiss(F18), Belgium (F16), Swiss and French Cougars where present.
