Dear Kosta,

I suppose, all of us would be very gratefull for a list of the currently stored/preserved F-5 in Mikra! It is always frustrating to see so much F-5 and to can confirm only a few of them ...

Thanks in advance for your efforts!!!

Joris, I regret to inform you, that one is the ONLY operational Dakota and it is plagued with structural problems. :(

In that case I will try my best.

I've also visited part of the Araxos dump, anyone interested in that one?

Tanagra 8/11

Post by Joris Heeren »

Hi,

A quick dash at Tanagra on Saturday morning (yes, we arrived at Thessaloniki the evening before...) produced the following operational stuff at HAI:

KK156 C-47B
303 C-130B
1111, 1123 CL-215
2050 CL-415
01503, 01518 F-4E - did anyone note unit markings?
236 Mirage 2000EG (in hangar) plus another one read as 540 - could anyone confirm this one?
3x P-3B
(160076)/76 T-2E
88-0435/AV gr F-16CG
(89)-2047/AV pr F-16CG

We saw another 3 Orions at Elefsis so we got 'em all, but does anyone know which ones are here?

MTIA,
Joris

Joris,

4118 was on the ramp next to the static when I arrived, same day but a little earlier than you. One was starting as we departed. Could have been 4118. I did miss one however so if anybody got that one 4128 perhaps??

Last year the stored F-5 at Thessaloniki where

01609, 69135, 38409, 01611, 01380, 01608, 38412, 89092, 63420, 97173, 38422, 13367, 69164, 38419, 69230, 01613, 89056, 01398, 21218, 38381, 38410, 89068, 3012 and 3069. It did not look like much had changed since Sept!?

On the airfield preserved are 97174 and 01612 F-5's. You can see the CL-215/414 ramp and quite a few F-5's inc the 2 preserved ones from the Hotel Harris which is adjacent to the gate. In amongst the F-5's is DC-3 KP255.

Next to the terminal near the flying club is DC-3 (49-2613)

01382 F-5 should be easily seen at the ex base recreational area!

Oh the last time I was at Thessaloniki F-4 preserved 67345 was parked at a different location than last year but visible from the Harris in Sept. BTW the Harris has no heating and is a little well to say the least run down! Cheap though. I was with the wife this time so went for something a little better!

Over at Sedes only a few clicks away was KN542 C-47, 59065 F-5, 37682 RF-84, 61031 F-102, 5708 TF-104, 53241 N2501, 21367 and 35629 T-33's If looking from the south to the left of the tower. KN575 DC-3 51-6713 T-33 both to the right of the tower. 92627, 92634, 92635, 92638 and KN475 DC-3's further to the right again, all from EMOOS. At the Thessaloniki war memorial 13353 F-5.

Thanks very much to your other help Joris and to all the others who have helped me.

Cheers,

Tim.

Kostas,

A list from Araxos would be great, near the fence the F-104's appeared to be piled 3 high a lot of A-7's also, has much changed since last year?

It has been waiting for an I.R.A.N. for years now, slowly falling apart.

And yes, there is a '540' Mirage 2000-5 somewhere...

Araxos/Andravida 9NOV

Post by Ergo01 »

Only additions are:
derelict A7 : 160716
in hangar next to static were A7 160865 and TA7 156795
At Andravida we saw two Mirages (215 and 231) , probably for training with the F4s. Three F4s were on the flight line, and far away two RF4 wrecks.

The three F-4s on the flight line were 01520, 71750, 71758, all 339M mks. On the far left, 4 other F-4s were visible in the shelter area, also presumably wfu.

Joris
