Soesterberg farewell activities (30 April) cancelled?

Post by Jaap »

Unfortunately, things don't look good for a proper Soesterberg farewell...

From the Soesterberg Forum:

The activities for 30-04-'08 are cancelled. (And also the festivities in the week before 30-04). They have decided this, because there wasn't enough time to realise all the plans they had.

The activities will now take place later, but there isn't a date yet.

To say something about the "spottersdag". The plan was/is that there will only be a fly by. There were no plans to realise a static display. One major issue was that a static display requires way more organising and planning and is harder to realise. (Also, there aren't that many people who voluntered to help with the activities.)

My hope is, now that the spotters-day is delayed, there will be a static display after all. I certainly would mention the issue that "a spotters day is not only a flyby" at the next VVS meeting, and see what i can accomplish. (But it's not my decision that counts.)

Only thing I can say is that there probably will be a professional fireworks show at the last day of all the activities. (Helping to organise the fireworks is actually my task, but I'm also present when they talk about the aviation part and I can bring in some ideas.)

Cheers!
