Wasaya Airways launches ATR-flights

On 22 December, Wasaya Airways launched flights with its first ATR72-freighter. The aircraft, C-GWRD (423) flew from Thunder Bay to Pickle Lake and has remained there over Christmas. The ATR72 was previously operated by Empire Airlines for Ohana by Hawaiian and is still wearing that livery. On its Facebook-page, the airline said it will be repainted in the coming months.

In January 2023, Wasaya Airways will introduce a second ATR72-500F. This aircraft is registered C-GWRQ (432) and is currently parked at Bar River where it arrived at 27 August 2022. This aircraft is also a former Empire Airlines-aircraft.

Wasaya Airways announced the acquisition of the freighters in May 2022, which it will use to replace the venerable HS748s.
