TransNusa receives first ARJ21

On 18 December, TransNusa from Indonesia, took delivery of its first ARJ21-700 at a ceremony at the manufacturer's site at Shanghai-Pudong. The aircraft, PK-TJA (186), is set to be flown to Indonesia soon. The delivery is not only a first for TransNusa but also for COMAC as it is the first delivery of an ARJ21 to a foreign customer.

TransNusa, which is a low-cost carrier, is currently operating three Airbus A320s, with a fourth planned for delivery. It has a total of thirty ARJ21-700s on order, which are planned to be all delivered by 2026.

The aircraft are leased via the China Aircraft Leasing Company (CALC), a lessor with which TransNusa has close ties and also has a stake of 49% in the Indonesian carrier through its Aviation Synergy-subsidiary. The order for the ARJ21s was announced in January 2021 and also included options for another thirty ARJ21-700s for TransNusa.
