Third Korean S-92 delivered

On 30 September 2022, the Hae Yang Gyeong Chal (South Korea Coast Guard) accepted its third Sikorsky S-92 helicopter. The S-92 has c/n 920303 and was test flown in the USA as N303DT.

With its 19-seat capacity the new machine firmly increases the Coast Guard’s capability to conduct maritime security, safety, and life-saving missions.

Since 2014 the Korea Coast Guard has completed 195 rescues and has flown more than 2,700 flight hours. These missions were flown by various helicopter types in the inventory (AS565MB, AW139, Bell 412SP, Ka-32S, and KUH-1CG, supported by fixed wing planes like the C212-400MP, CN235-110MPA and a single CL-604).

Although not officially revealed, Scramble assumes that the third S-92 is likely to become registered as B521.

The first S-92 was built in 2013, and flew as B519 (c/n 920195) It was lost in a crash on 8 April 2022. The second S-92 (c/n 920294) was built in 2015 and became B520.

Following the afore mentioned third example, a fourth Sikorsky is expected to be delivered in 2023.
