Saudia sued over unpaid lease fees

Lessor ALIF has decided to sue Saudia and is seeking to claim USD460 million from the national carrier for unpaid lease fees, damages and costs of 50 leased aircraft. The lawsuit was filed at the London High Court.

The 50 planes, 30 A320neos and 20 A330-300s were ordered during the Paris Air Show in 2015 and financed via ALIF. The lessor now says that Saudia has stopped paying the leasing rates and also conducted unauthorized engine changes and part swaps.

Saudia has been heavily impacted by the slump in worldwide aviation due to Corona and has said that it expects to resolve the issue with the lessor and is in talks with them about it.
