A339 MalaysiaAirlines 640Malaysia Airlines to add more A330-900s

Airbus was able to note down another order for new aircraft during the visit of Malaysia's Prime Minister to France. This time, the manufacturer signed a deal with state carrier Malaysia Airlines for more A330-900s. The carrier is doubling its commitment to the type by ordering another 20. Deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2029 and 2031.

Malaysia Airlines placed its first order for twenty A330-900s back in 2022. Ten were directly ordered with Airbus, the other ten are leased from Avolon. The airline took delivery of its first A330-900 in November 2024 and currently has four in service. They are deployed from Kuala Lumpur to Auckland, Denpasar and Melbourne.

Next to its A330-900s, the Malaysia Airlines fleet is currently made-up of seven A330-200s, fifteen A330-300s, seven A350-900s, 40 Boeing B737-800s, and twelve B737-8s.
