Lao Airlines welcomes 1st C909
On 30 March 2025, Lao Airlines took delivery of its first COMAC C909 (formerly known as ARJ21-700). The aircraft, RPDL-34229 (10156), was handed-over during a special ceremony at Shanghai-Pudong. It left for the airline's home at Vientiane on 31 March 2025.
The C909 is leased from an unnamed lessor and it's also unclear if the airline is planning to take more. It will, initially, be only deployed on domestic flights. With the delivery, Lao Airlines became the second foreign carrier to operate the C909. The first one is TransNusa from Indonesia.
Next to its new C909, the airline's current fleet is made-up of seven ATR72s and four Airbus A320s.
