ExxonMobil buys two Airbus H145s

On 23 November 2020, Airbus announced that they have sold two H145 helicopters to the ExxonMobil company. The H145s will be used to transport personnel and equipment in support of a Liquefied Natural Gas project in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

They will be based at the Hides Gas Conditioning Plant (HGCP) in Hela Province of the PNG Highlands.

The helicopters ordered by ExxonMobil are of the H145 model with the new five-blade, bearingless main rotor which provides a 150kg increase in useful load.

This “hot and high” performance of the 5-bladed H145 made it the helicopter of choice as its future operations will take place at 5,400 ft with temperatures up to 35ºC.

The sale is the first by Airbus to ExxonMobil and the first order in the oil and gas sector for the new H145 in the Asia Pacific region.
