China Southern announces large Airbus-order
In a 29 April 2026-statement to the Shanghai stock exchange, China Southern Airlines announced its intention to place a large order for Airbus-aircraft for both China Southern and its subsidiary Xiamen Airlines.
According to the statement the order will be for 102 A320neo-family aircraft for China Southern and 35 A320neo-family aircraft for Xiamen Airlines. Delivery of the new aircraft are scheduled to take place between 2028 and 2032.
Today, China Southern is operating a fleet that consists of nine A319neos, 93 A320s, 74 A320neos, 81 A321s, 93 A321neos, 25 A330-300s, 20 A350-900s, four Boeing B737-700s, 153 B737-800s, 45 B737-8s, seven B777Fs, fifteen B777-300ERs, 21 B787-9s, 35 COMAC C909s, and ten C919s.
Its, 55%-owned, subsidiary Xiamen Airlines has a fleet that is currently made-up of two A320neos, seventeen A321neos, four B737-700s, 111 B737-800s, 28 B737-8s, four B787-8s, and six B787-9s.
