Aviair expanding with DHC-8-400s

Regional airline, charter- and scenic-flight operator Aviair is stepping up its operations significantly as it has signed a lease-agreement with Nordic Aviation Capital for a number of unspecified DHC-8-400s. The DHC-8s will be arriving early next year and used for new scheduled and charter-flights.

Aviair, which is headquartered at Kununurra, North-West Australia, was founded in 1984 (as Slingair Heliwork) and is currently operating a fleet of almost 30 aircraft consisting of Beech B200s, Cessna 208/210s, Pilatus PC-12s, a GA8 Airvan, a Beech 58 and two Cessna 525s. It also has a sister-company, HeliSpirit, which is operating a fleet of about 25 helicopters, made up from Bell 206s, Robinson R22/44/66s and an Eurocopter AS350.

The airline's scheduled destinations are Balgo, Broome, Derby, Halls Creek, Kalumburu, Karratha, Newman and Port Hedland.
