Air Astana to lease B787-9s

Air Astana has signed a lease-agreement with Air Lease Corporation for the lease of new Boeing B787-9s. In total, both companies agreed the lease of three B787-9s, which are planned for delivery in 2025 and 2026. The three Dreamliners are coming from ALC's existing orderbook with Boeing.

It's currently unclear what this lease-agreement means for the airline's order for three B787-8s it placed in 2012. Originally, these aircraft were planned for delivery in 2017 but later deferred to 2023. All three are stil on Boeing's October order book.

Air Astana will use the new B787-9s to replace its three B767-300ERs. Next to this, the airline operates a fleet of five Airbus A320neos, two A321-200s, thirteen A321neos and five Embraer E190-E2s.
