Air Albania has officially called it quits, after struggling to be profitable for years. It had already operated its final flight on 2 December 2025.
The airline was established in May 2018 as a joint-venture between Turkish Airlines (49%) and various Albanian investors. It launched operations in September of that same year, using aircraft leased from Turkish Airlines.
Since it launch, the airline faced strong competion in the Albanian-market from low-cost airlines like Ryanair and Wizz Air. In the beginning of this year, the airline tried to relaunch with new routes flown by wet-leased aircraft from Fly2Sky but this also wasn't a success.
Due to this, in November 2025, Turkish Airlines decided to pull out of the joint-venture, forcing the airline to cease operations and file for bankruptcy. According to various news outlets, Air Albania leaves behind a debt of around 100 million euros.
