Not visited very often, but still interesting is this glider airfield. It hosts several fly ins every year, such as the Chipmeet and the annual APCK fly in. The Belgian forces' Air Cadets have left the field years ago for their new base Florennes. But while you are at Zoersel: the club restaurant is OK, and cheap!
The airfield is in a wooded area, although the airfield terrain itself is very open. The single runway has small dispersal areas on each corner as well as two longer taxi ways in the southeast and northwest. The latter place is were the action is.
From the A21/E34 (Eindhoven-Antwerpen), take exit 21 direction Oostmalle on the N153. Follow this road. Just after the village of Wechelderzande you will see the airfield on your left.
Zoersel is fairly open. You can take nice pictures if there are flying activities. Do mind the Air Cadets have long moved to Florennes. (Koen Leuvering)
