Royal Air Force
The British forces relied on Battle Field Support Helicopters during the most recent conflicts for troop transport, resupply missions and casevac. The backbone of this helicopter fleet is the Chinook, one of which is shown here during its display at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford.

In view of operational deployments most Tornado GR4 aircraft do not carry any squadron markings. On the bright side, the fleet has been allocated with fixed codes, which makes it a lot easier to identify individual aircraft! The serial number of the aircraft shown here is painted on the rear fuselage, just behind the wins and invisible due to the underwing load. However the large white code in the tailfin identifies this jet as ZA456.
