On May 5 MCAS Iwakuni opened its gates for the annual
Friendship Day. This year a record 275.000 people visited the
open house to see the static and flying display and to enjoy the
American food. In the morning you are facing the sun, but in the
afternoon the sun is in your back and then it is possible to get
some decent shots of the flying display. This year the flying
display consisted of a CAS and air refuelling display, fly-by’s of
Japanese aircraft, a Harrier display, the Pacific F-16 demo and
as highlight for the many Japanese the Blue Impulse.
