The RAAF operated four different versions of the C-130 Hercules transport aircraft. Initially they bought the C-130A which was later supplemented by the C-130E version. When the time came to replace the aging C-130A the RAAF opted to buy the C-130H and recently, when the E-model was close to the end of it's carreer yet another version of the Hercules was aquired, the C-130J.
