In it’s lifetime within the RNLAF, the CH-47D Chinook has proved itself as a real workhorse. Another eight F-models will be purchased while the D-models will be updated to this F standard in the near future.

For Air-to-Air refuelling, the RNLAF uses two former civilian DC-10’s which where transformed to KDC-10 Tanker aircraft. A third ‘normal’ DC-10 was purchased for troop/cargo transport.

The NH90 NFH helicopters at MVK De Kooy are planned to take over the SAR role when operational in 2011-2012. 303 squadron will be disbanded prior to that event.
 
322sq is the oldest operational squadron and has been active since 1942. It was also the first unit to receive F-16’s in 1981.

Also based here is LCW (Logistiek Centrum Woensdrecht - Logistic Centre Woensdrecht ) taking care of heavy maintenance for RNlAF aircraft.
Stork Aerospace is also situated at this base. Maintenance for many RNlAF aircraft is performed here, but also for the KNL F-16 and Fokker aircraft of foreign states. Also many Fokkers are stored here.
