The Lockheed F-16C Block 50 is the newest addition to the Fighter Force of the RAFO. Eight Block 50 single seat F-16C and four dual seat F-16D aircraft are operated by 18sq from Thumrait.

The role of the Skyvans and BAC111s is being replaced by the two A320 Corporate Jets that 4sq operates.

Three 14sq AB205s are permanently detached at Khasab, at the Musadam peninsula.

The ex-Royal Flight Super Puma helicopters are operating with 14sq since late 2005.

Also located here is the Air Force Technical College (AFTC) which provides training and academic studies.
 
Long Haul and tactical transport is being executed by the great Lockheed Hercules. The RAFO will soon ammend its Hercules fleet with the C-130J Super Herc.

The strategic location of Oman demands a Maritime Patrol platform. The Seavan offers the RAFO this capabilities. A replacement is being sought but during 2009 the Seavan played a critical role in the anti-pirating missions off the coast of Somalia.

One BAC1-11 is still soldiering on but will soon be replaced when the second Airbus Corporate Jet will be delivered.

The Huey helicopters are operating throughout the country and have supplied the RAFO with trustworthy troop transport for over 30 years now. An accomplishment that its replacement, the NH90-TTH, still has to surpass.

The PAC Super Mushshak serves as the primary trainer with 1sq, part of the Sultan Qaboos Flying Academy at Masirah.

Jaguars are still going strong with both 8sq and 20sq at Thumrait. Speculations on their replacement include both the Lockheed F-16C/D and the Eurofighter Typhoon.
