German Air Force - Airbases

The Luftwaffe operates one wing, Jagdbombergeschwader 32, in the SEAD role. The wing is equiped with all Tornado ECR aircraft of the air force, like this 46+50

JG74 at Neuburg was the second unit to receive the EF2000 Eurofighter. This 30+35 is one of the two-seaters of the unit.

JG73 Steinhoff at Laage was the first unit to receive the EF2000. After saying goodbye to their MiG-29s and F-4F the unit welcomed the first Eurofighter in 2004.

The only recce-wing, AG51, currently operates the Tornado, like this 45+22. One of the squadrons was disbanded in 2009, in preparation for the introduction of the EuroHawk UAV in the future.

The Richthofen geschwader at Wittmund is the final unit to fly the F-4F Phantom. The Luftwaffe once owned 175 F-4F and 88 RF-4E aircraft. This 37+63 is one of the final aircraft active in 2009.

The C-160D has been providing transport services for several decades now. The type is scheduled to be replaced by the Airbus A400M.

Jever used to be home to JBG38 (and WS10 prior to that). Nowadays a maintenance unit on the base takes care of F-4 maintenance. The same unit also takes care of dismantling Tornado's and F-4s.

Two Regiments currently operate the CH-53. The type is undergoing constant conversion. Despite its age, no real steps have been taken to replace the type in the future.

The Huey is still in operation with two Regiments within the army aviation component. The typical sound of the chopper will continue to fill the skies near Fassberg until the NH90 is delivered in serious quantities.

The introduction of the Tiger can not really be called a succes story. The type should have been delivered from 2006. By 2010 though, under ten choppers of the type had been delivered though..

The German Navy SeaKings are currently stationed at Kiel-Holtenau. Their parent unit, MFG5, is scheduled to more to Nordholz in the future.

This 61+03 is the only Br1150 Atlantic still operating for MFG3. The ELINT-equipped aircraft is the last of 20 Atlantic aircraft that operated for the Marineflieger.
