In September 2001 the transport wing from Piešt'any has moved to Malacky and integrated into a the wing structure of 2 Letecke Zakladna. Following a reorganisation in 2003 the unit was referred to as the Samostatna Dopravny Letka. Since 1 July 2009 the unit is having its current designation.

33SBoLK was redesignated to 2SBoLK in late 2001 but eventually disbanded after the based Su-22s, Su-25s and L-29 were retired by January 2003. A number of the previously based fighters are stored at the base.

31.SLK was redesignated to 1.SLK in late 2001. As part of this reorganisation 4 Letka was disbanded and their MiG-21's were transferred to 2 Letka. Only six MiG-21MF's and two MiG-21UM's were remaining on strength by October 2001. The last aircraft were finally retired on 1 January 2003. From 1 July 2009 the unit is designated the Zmiešané letecké krídlo
