The OH-58Bs are so far the only Austrian helicopters routinely operated in an armed configuration and equipped with a 7.62mm GAU mini-gun. Though delivered in 1976, no replacemnet is yet foreseen.

Besides pilot training, the Düsentrainerstaffel also provides a solo display pilot who represents the Österreichische Luftstreitkräfte on national and international air shows with the J105OË. It is a Honorary Member of the NATO Tiger Association.

A two-seat light trainer aircraft, the Pilatus PC-7 turbo was built by Pilatus Aircraft Ltd in Switzerland. The PC-7 can perform various functions including aerobatics and tactical and night flying. The PC-7 can accommodate a crew of two members (a student and trainer) and has six underwing hardpoints.

On 2 July 2002, the Austrian government announced the decision to buy the Typhoon as its new air defence aircraft. The purchase of 18 Typhoons was agreed on 1 July 2003, and included training, logistics, maintenance, and a simulator. On 26 June 2007, Austrian Minister for Defense Norbert Darabos announced a reduction to 15 aircraft. The first aircraft was delivered on 12 July 2007.
