on 13 January 2011, the Protezione Civile finally announced that the competition to entrust the fleet of Canadairs formerly operated by SOREM was completed. The winner was Inaer Aviones Anfibious together with Inaer Helicopters Italia. The end of the contract with Sorem caused protests of the employes and a temporary grounding of the Canadairs. The contract with SOREM was rescinded after its owner Giuseppe Spadaccini was arrested as a consequence of a big tax swindle, valued about 90 million Euros, and a new tender was issued to find another contractor to operate the fleet of Canadairs
