EHLE Spitfire's gear collaps during taxi

Post by Gonzo »

Hello,

Today I read a message that two Spitfires will visit EHLE for a short moment, indeed two nice spitfires visit around 12 o'clock.

When they intend to leave EHLE something went wrong with one of the Spitfires, his main gear collapse, see here the pictures.

Wow that is too bad!

May I ask with which lense and camera you took these pictures? The right side of the pictures is unsharp while the left side is...
and if memory doesnt fail me, it was just back in the air after earlier (heavy?) damage sustained on landing at Gilze 2007.
But feel free to amend the latter.
That's not correct, the one who suffered damage while his landing gear collapsed was the Spitfire from the Historical Flight.

This Spitfire has a Dutch owner but is based at Duxford, UK.

I was there during the landing, but because I still had shopping to do I couldn't wait for their departure. Here are a few pictures of the arrival (sorry for the dustspots, I only just noticed them... :( )
