General
Rotterdam is the second busiest airport of The Netherlands, after Amsterdam-Schiphol. A wide variety of traffic can be seen here, from the regular airliners like KLM cityhopper or VLM to light aircraft. A lot of bizjets and props are handled by the Jet Centre at the airport.

Layout

In front of the Bel-Air office
Excellent view on the main ramp and runway. Most bizjets, if parked here, are close to the fence, and can be photographed with ease (requires 50-200 mm, depending the aircraft size and distance). Airliners and commuters usually are parked further away, but most times within a 200 mm range. The sun is in the back from around 12.00 (13.00 in summer). Note: Fence with narrow holes is about 2.25 m high, so bring your stairs in you want to take pictures!
Viewing Area
The viewing area accessible via the terminal restautant offers a very close view of aircraft parked in front of the terminal. It is surrounded by a 1.80 m high glass fence, which is not tinted, fortunately. However, for taking pictures you have to watch out for reflections
Between terminal and Tulip Air office
View on the Echo apron (north side of hangars) and Jet Center ramp. Same fence as vantage point 1. Piston twins and smaller aircraft are parked here, as well as some commuters. Photographic opportunities limited
Between Rijnmond Air Services and Jet Center
Good view on the Foxtrot apron (south side of the hangars) and limited on the Jet Center ramp. The fence is similar to other fences at the airport, although a bit lower, so you know what this means for taking pictures. When the doors of the Jet Center hangars are open, it should be possible to see some aircraft inside from this point. A better view of the Jet Center ramp can be obtained by continuing on the road to the Erasmus catering building, though the new hangar limits the view somewhat.

Near (truck) freight handling
This spot can be used to take pictures of aircraft taxiing to runway 06. Stairs are still needed. The view may be obstructed. Taking pictures of aircraft landing at runway 06 is also possible, although the fence will not help you.

Around The Airport

Finals runway 06 (south side)
Nice spot, although the view to the southwest is somewhat limited by trees.
Along runway (north side) near threshold runway 24
Pictures of aircraft on the runway can be taken here in the evening. A 200 mm is sufficient for airliners. Smaller aircraft require 300 mm or more. Stairs are required as well
Finals runway 24
Excellent spot, all day. The only drawback is the limited view on the airport
Along taxiway (south side) near threshold rwy 24
Excellent spot, from early in the morning till 15.00-16.00 in the afternoon. The only drawback is the limited view on the airport
Along taxiway (south side) halfway the runway
Similar to point 9, but a bit closer to the taxiway and with a view on the aprons. Every aircraft of size Falcon 20 or larger can be photographed here with 200 mm.
