General
To the northeast of London you can find Stansted Airport. It is officially the third airport of London and handles a variety of scheduled, charter and executive traffic. Among the scheduled airlines are Ryan Air and KLM uk. A lot of Ryan Air planes are using the airport during the day. Stansted also handles a lot of cargo traffic, like Nippon Cargo, Korean Air, UPS and FedEx, most of it during the evening and night.
Layout
Terminal
The main terminal is at the eastern side of the runway and includes the main cargo ramp. At the left side of the terminal a small hill gives you a view over part of the concourses and the cargo apron. You can not see much of the aircraft parked at the other side.
Around The Airport
The north side
On the opposite side is the old terminal, which is now a maintenance area, where you also can find the bizjet traffic. Without a car it is nearly impossible to go there, as there is no public transport in that area. By car you can drive over the north side and take a look at the executive aprons.
Runway 05
At the threshold of runway 05 it is possible to take good landing shots, unfortunately it is not possible (yet) to park there.
Runway 05/23
Along this runway is a nice spot where you can park your car next to the road. From this place you have a good view of all the movements as you're opposite the terminal.
Getting There
You can take a bus from Heathrow or Gatwick or a train from London-Liverpool Street or Cambridge/Peterborough. Also a couple of National Express bus services stops at the main terminal.
