Bus Timetables
|
The main problem with the Dutch public transportation system, is that it is ever changing. Routes are renumbered, rerouted, cancelled
and reopened on a regular basis, making them difficult to use - even for airport employees.
Reading material in Dutch can be found at the Schiphol Sternet website
The bus network around the airport is mainly aimed at airport staff which, on many routes, means that buses run on weekdays only and
are sometimes limited to office hours. Keep this in mind when using the network.
Timetable information in Holland is provided by a company called "9292" but its
website is not very user friendly for non-Dutch readers. Additionally, you will need to enter the exact name of the busstop you are using.
Unfortunately, the bus operators Connexxion and GVB have removed all route information and timetables from the central busstop at Schiphol
Plaza. At this stop, large monitors announce the next few busses with expected times. At other stops around the airport, normal route and
timetable information is available in the shelters.
Downloadable timetables and maps have also been removed from the bus operators' website.
Bus 79
Looking at the busmap at the airport, this seems to be the ultimate route, circling the whole airport.
However, only one service per weekday runs the whole route. For the rest of the day, buses only run on various parts of the loop and do not stop near the viewing areas.
Bus 145
The service runs along the "Hoofdvaart" canal between Hoofddorp and Badhoevedorp.
This bus does not have airport stops, take Bus 192 to Badhoevedorp and change there for the 145 to Hoofddorp. Alternatively, board the
145 at Hoofddorp train station, get there on bus 300 or 310 from Schiphol. Check online timetables to ensure a connection.
Bus 177
Fast bus from Haarlem via Badhoevedorp to Schiphol Noord and Schiphol Oost.
This bus uses the emergency lane of the A9 motorway.
Bus 186
From Amstelveen's large busstation to Schiphol Oost. Some services continue to Plaza past Schiphol Noord.
Bus 187
Departes Schiphol Plaza to Schiphol Oost in the opposite direction as 193 does. Some services continue to amstelveen Bus station.
This bus does not pass the Cargo buildings around point 4 and 5 but runs via the offices of Schiphol Rijk to Point 6 and 7.
Bus 191
Schiphol to Schiphol Oost/Stationsplein
Bus 193
Runs between Schiphol Plaza and Schiphol Oost/Zuideinde. Frequency varies, between 5 and 30-minute intervals.
On the stretch departing Schiphol Oost, the final stop is Noord - P40. However, enroute the bus number changes and it continues to Plaza
and one of the neighbouring communities. A confusing system, so some drivers will put 193/Plaza on the bus as destination from Oost.
Bus 194
Runs from Hoofdorp via offices at Schiphol-Rijk to Schiphol oost, daytime only.
Bus 197
Convient for those staying in downtown Amsterdam.
This bus will take you in just 30 minutes from Amsterdam Leidseplein to Schiphol. The correct bus stop at the Leidseplein might be a
little hard to find though.
Bus 199
All departures of the 199 pass Schiphol East, with stops at Point 10, 9 and 8. It then continues past the campsite in the Amsterdamse Bos
to Amstelveen and Amsterdam Zuid train station.
Bus 287
Schiphol Plaza to Schiphol Rijk for point 3 and 6 only.
Bus 300
Zuidangent
Haarlem - Hoofddorp - Schiphol - Amsterdam Zuidoost.
Bus uses special bus lanes almost the whole route. This bus runs very frequently, but not according a timetable.
Bus 310
Nieuw Vennep - Schiphol - Amsterdam Zuid
Bus uses special bus lanes almost the whole route. Only half of the services continue to Amsterdam.

Bus Fares
|
To travel on the bus nowadays one needs a so-called OV Chipcard (OV = Openbaar Vervoer, Public Transport), which can be bought and charged at the
trainstation, and several other locations. It is still possible to buy a ticket on the bus, but the charges are about doubled then.
Tickets bought on-board are only valid for a single ride, costing 2 or 4 euros depending on the number of zones traveled. Intermediate stops are
not permitted, leaving the bus voids the ticket.
For information on the OV Chipcard, see here.
